When I reflect on life with Dad I remember a sense of assurance that everything would be okay. No matter what was going on Dad was the picture of confidence. He rarely showed panic. He rarely showed fear. Anger and frustration yes, but he never wavered in his steadiness. If he didn't know the answer he would figure it out. If something was broken he'd read a book. If we were lost he'd find the way. If the storm was wild he'd secure things give a smile and a word of assurance. If he couldn't fix it or make it better he would lead the way through whatever challenge we faced. He had discernment, wisdom and good judgement. He was always on watch, always on call and always there for me. I always felt safe with him.
